About me
I was born and raised in Midtown Memphis, TN. As a young adult, I spent time in the Midwest, where I got a BA in English from Macalester College in the Twin Cities, an MA in Social Sciences from The University of Chicago, and had a lot of fun.
I eventually relocated to southern California where I got my PhD in Anthropology at UCLA. My research engaged medical, linguistic, and psychological anthropology. While working on my PhD, I realized I was dissatisfied with academia and was most interested in direct clinical practice. I pivoted and went to the Smith College School for Social Work for my MSW.
During my clinical training, I interned at the Sandy Segal Youth Health Center in Los Angeles and at CalArts, followed by additional training at the psychoanalytically-oriented Valley Community Counseling Clinic. When the pandemic forced us all into telehealth, I transitioned my LA practice to the virtual realm and eventually relocated to Northern California, where I continue to work with clients in LA but also see people in NorCal and throughout CA.
